News - A visit to Invicta Council 54 for the Installation of Bro. Neville Fouries

On Monday 23rd October the Deputy D.G.P., W. Bro. Geoff Whale, visited the Invicta Council No.54 to witness the Installation of Bro. Neville Fourie as Master of the council.

Sadly, the current Worshipful Master W. Bro. Mark Kirby was unable to be present due to his wife contracting Covid. However, the brethren were delighted when W. Bro. Trevor Harrison assumed the Chair, opened the Council, confirmed the minutes, and welcomed the Dep. D.G.P., who was delighted to renew his long friendship with him. After the salutation he vacated the Chair in favour of W. Bro. Jason Cameron-Potter, who, at very short notice had taken responsibility to install Bro. Neville, and with the help of the book installed him in splendid fashion. W. Bro. Ralph Craig acted as D.C. for the evening and presented the Master-Elect for Installation.

Having been installed the Dep D.G.P. offered his congratulations and wished him success and happiness during his year. The master, W. Bro. Fourie then invested his Officers, in a friendly and efficient manner.

Sadly, W. Bro. Colin Tunbridge (J.W.) or W. Bro Mike Plant (D.C.) or W. Bro David Cantlon (Steward), could be invested as Colin was attending to other masonic business and both Mike and David had contracted Covid. However, these posts were temporarily filled by the two visitors, W, Bro Fred Brown (Worshipful master of white Cliffs of Dover Council) and Bro. Peter Hayler (a member of the Paddock Wood council.

The Dep D.G.P. then had the pleasure of presenting a Grand Council Certificate to Bro. Bill Pennell, who had been previously invested as Senior Warden. He was informed of some of the history of the Order, and warmly welcomed into the Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees on behalf of the Master and all present, with the hope that he would enjoy many happy years as an Allied Mason.

After the Council had been closed, the brethren returned to the temple, for photographs to mark the occasion before retiring to the bar for refreshments before enjoying a very convivial festive board together which was held in a happy and friendly atmosphere.
